Week #3 Study in Layering Patterns & Textures

This is a work in progress and I'm not happy with it yet as my supposed high res images are not very clear. I'm not sure what I've done wrong yet but I'll take another look at it in the morning.  I've recreated an image of the original.

This image is the original.

This image is my recreation.

  1. I looks like you are still using low resolution paper texture images. Find some higher res stuff! I know it is out there. Just do an advanced Google image search and make sure that you specify an image larger than 2MP.
To make the image lighter and not so muddy try using a screen blending mode for a layer instead of a multiply blending mode.

  2. Ok, thanks. I will do that. I think the paper texture art I found was almost high enough res however when I brought it into my project I placed it into an 8-1/2x11 size and had to enlarge it to cover the area I needed covered so that really brought the res quality down. I'm beginning to figure out, finally, how important it is to find 300dpi art images as well as the res, is that right? It appears to be better anyway in my projects such as the latest coke images I found today. Thanks for the feedback...I'll keep working on it.
